How many dimensions does your shadow have?
Does your shadow really belong to you or where could it disappear to?
Through the light of the video projector, each person who enters the scene casts a shadow on the opposite white wall. If the person does not move for a few seconds, their shadow is frozen. If they move again, their shadow remains on the wall. If the person leaves the scenery, his silhouette accompanies him, but its image remains on the wall. After a short time, this changes in an unpredictable way or is overlaid by shadows of other visitors.
The storage of a person's outline, which can be materialized as digital traces, is emblematic of the ways and means of modern surveillance technologies. The shadow of a person is part of his person, although it is not part of the body. It is not tangible, not material, has no surface, no color, no volume. Nevertheless, it is inevitably connected to the person - and yet it can be stolen and alienated from him.
The installation plays with seeing without being seen, with monitoring, storing, controlling, observing, leaving traces...
